16-19 Bursary Fund

Get help to pay for essential education-related costs if you are 16 to 19 and in further education or training.

The Bursary Fund can help pay for costs like:

  • equipment you might need for your course
  • lunch
  • transport to and from your school or college

You could get a bursary of £1,200 a year if you are in one of the following groups:

  • students in care or care leavers
  • students claiming Income Support
  • disabled students getting Employment and Support Allowance and Disability Living Allowance

How it is paid

The bursary is paid directly by the college on a monthly basis. This is dependent on an attendance record of 90% or above which will be monitored on a weekly basis during that month.

Free School Meals

A child may be eligible for Free School Meals if their parent/carer is in receipt of:

  • Income Support;
  • Income based Job Seekers Allowance
  • Income-based Employment & Support Allowance
